Dear Caitlyn,
As President of the Panhellenic Council, I would like to inform you of some ideas I came up with after researching the Executive Board of my chapter. I am apart of the Beta Mu chapter of Gamma Phi Beta, and during the course of my first semester at Florida State, I began to assess the function of the Executive Board within my sorority. During my analysis, multiple interviews, and interactions with the Executive Board, I began to determine the importance of leadership and the development of these lifelong skills. These 7 women that make-up “Exec” are the leaders, influencers, and faces of our chapter, and I believe it is crucial for this type of leadership to be shown throughout all 17 chapters.
I think that all chapters at this University can gain something from one another, and each Executive Board can provide some insight, knowledge, and information to grow. If all Executive Boards, as well as the additional sisters who want to attend, can come together for a night to bounce ideas off of each other, share their views of how a board should be run, and things that have and haven’t worked for them in the past, each chapter can develop into the best version of itself. Leadership can be addressed, and the transition of leadership from sorority life to the real world can be seen first hand.
A lot of times, the women forget that this is an entire Greek community and that the Panhellenic Council makes up not just their chapter, but also all 17 at the University, so this event would be a reminder and a way for the chapter to come together as one. I strongly believe in the importance of leadership directly in sorority life, and the transfer to real-world situations and experiences.
Sincerely,
Samantha
